Stephy Reads The Bookshop Murder by Merryn Allingham

Hello There!

Today I will be rambling about a cozy mystery book. Which isn't a genre I think I've read before. I dunno. I'm not great with genres.

Trigger Warnings:
Murder (it is in the title...)
Physical abuse (mentioned)
Sexism

This book takes place in the village of Abbeymead in Sussex in 1955. And in Abbeymead we have Flora Steele, owner of All's Well bookshop. We also have Jack Carrington, writer and recluse (hashtag life goals...) One day, Jack stops into the bookshop to pick up an order (something he usually has a boy for... Seriously, he is such a recluse that he just has some local kid run errands for him so he can hide in his house). And he and Flora find a dead body. The dead guy is Kevin Anderson, an Australian who was staying at the Priory (which... is a hotel? Sounds right.) It was determined that the healthy 21-year-old died of a heart attack. Which no one but Flora thought was suspicious. Though maybe she was biased since it was obvious that he had broken into her bookshop and then rudely died on the floor.
So, Flora decides she is going to solve this mystery, and drags Jack along for the ride.

I really enjoyed this book. The mystery was fun. I liked the characters. Jack and Flora had good chemistry together. Flora was a fun character, determined to solve the mystery. Jack is also fun. They have good banter, which I love. Everything needs good banter between characters. This is the first book in a series and I need to get the other books. I need to read more of Flora and Jack's adventures. There were hints of a possible future romance and I need that to happen.

That's really all I got, I think. Sorry this one is so short, but I didn't want to ramble too much and end up spoiling things. Because I do recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fun mystery. Do not go into this expecting a romance subplot. There is a vague one happening but it doesn't follow through. I would say this is a bit of a Ray of Sunshine/Grumpy Grump trope, which I fucking adore. Though, Flora and Jack don't quite fit into those character tropes. Flora is a Ray of Sunshine on the outside, but inside she's a worrier. She wants to solve the mystery mostly because thanks to a corpse in her bookshop, people stop coming in to buy things. And Jack is a bit of a Grumpy Grump but mostly he's grumpy because of his Sad Backstory.

Okay. That's all.

I'll see y'all on Friday for my post on what I wanna do in September. And then Saturday for my weekly post.

This Week I...

 Hello There!

Ugh.

Oliver is trying to nap.

Okay, let's see what I did this week.

Wrote

A bit here and there.

A blog post or two.

And writing adjacent: Trying to finish fleshing out my original characters. Got stuck for awhile trying to decide if my incubus should have horns or not. Mostly because I kept thinking "how would he sleep with those?" every time I saw a set of horns...

Read

Some fan-fiction.

Finished Salem's Lot.

Trying to focus in on the cozy mystery I've been reading on Kindle.

Watched

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves - oh gods! This was sooooooo good. I wanna marry Holga.

Wings

Penguins of Madagascar - the show this time. I love this show.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? - The 90s were a wild time. I mean, these kids are just hanging out in the woods playing with fire and telling spooky stories.

Played

Mobile games.

Posted

An original thing on AO3. Which, if you wanna read that you need an account. Sorry. If you want an invite let me know...

My ramblings about Salem's Lot.

Anything Else?

Kiddo's therapy got canceled this week. Which isn't a bad thing, really. Just threw us off that day.

Then Thursday night/Friday morning it stormed real bad and I had three panicking dogs in my room wanting me to make the noise stop.

Then today (Saturday) I woke up feeling like shit. So I'm gonna finish up a few things I need to do today and then I'm going to curl up, watch cartoons and maybe read.

No idea what Wednesday's post will be about. The way it's looking right now, it'll probably be another Animal Crossing post. See y'all then.

Stephy Reads Salem's Lot by Stephen King

 Hello There!

Oliver has no idea why I do this to him.

Trigger Warnings:

Child Abuse

Animal Death

Homophobic Slurs

Child Death

Death

Blood

Ableist Language

Rape (mentioned, slight description, implied)

Salem's Lot is about Jerusalem's Lot. Which is full of a lot of shit people. Ben Mears, a writer who once lived in the Lot when he was a kid, returns hoping to get some inspiration. Which is the first of a long list of Bad Ideas. Well, maybe not the first. The first was probably building the town... Ben arrives in town at the same time as two other men. Business partners. And I don't mean that as some sort of innuendo. They ain't fucking. Which... Yeah, I'm okay with that. Straker and Barlow, are their names. They open an antique store. They also buy the spooky old house on the hill. Which most fictional small towns seem to have one of those. Is that just a fiction thing? Do real-life small towns all have a spooky house on the hill that teenagers dare each other to go into at night? If so, I am once again very disappointed in the town I live in. Not a single spooky old house, on a hill or not.

Soon after Ben arrives in the Lot, he meets Susan Norton and they begin dating. Then a dog is murdered. A kid goes missing after that. And ya know what, it just starts going downhill fast after that.

I really enjoyed this book. Even though it took me over a month to read. But that's my fault. I read it before and I was constantly like "Oh, bad part is coming up" and I'd go read fluffy fan-fiction for a few days. Last time I read it, it only took me a couple days. I enjoy Stephen King's writing. And I really enjoyed that even though Ben was the main character, we got chapters that dived into the other characters. Which most were shit and deserved the deaths they received.

There is a hint that the people in town are shitty because there is some Evil in the old spooky house on the hill. I'm not sure if that is actually something or I was reading a bit too much into it.

Most of the characters in this book are horrible. I hate them. I think they're supposed to be that way, though. Well, for the most part. I did really like Matt and Mark though. Matt was totally my favorite character.

The first time I read this I remember being on the edge of my seat needing to know what happened next. It was suspenseful and terrifying at times. I only remembered big plot points this time, so I was still on the edge of my seat about things. Though, like I said earlier, sometimes I would remember a bad thing was going to happen and then I avoided the book for a couple days.

This probably isn't my favorite vampire book (oh yeah, forgot to mention, there are vampires). But this ranks pretty high on the top ten list. And the only reason it doesn't rank higher is because I do prefer romance shit. So give me those pretty vampires that want to make heart eyes at each other. But as far as horror vampires, yeah this book is pretty high on the list.

One terrifying point is how quickly the vampire practically took over the town. Dude worked smart and fast. So, good job.

Aaaand... That's really all I got.

If you follow me on Tumblr, I will be posting some Things I Say While... about this book. I've been kind of slacking on those. I apologize. I really miss doing them.

This Week I...

 Hello There!

Let's see what I did this week.

Got angry mostly...

Wrote

Some bits of fan-fiction.

Also working on something with my original characters. Not really anything that goes with the main plots of that. More of a character study, I suppose. It's fighting me a bit.

Did a lot of research for a Naruto fan-fic idea that I've been playing around with for a couple years now. Like, a lot. I've drawn charts and diagrams. Sort of. And the Naruto canon is full of holes. Which can be annoying as shit.

Read

Whole lotta fan-fiction.

Got less than 100 pages left in Salem's Lot. Shit is not going well in the Lot. I'll probably finish it up before I go to sleep tonight (in the morning...)

Watched

Stuff on YouTube. Whole bunch of Casual Geographic's stuff. Love that dude.

Good Omens - Just the first season. Again. I was thinking about watching Red, White, and Royal Blue but I couldn't decide if I wanted to finish re-reading the book first or not.

Wings - So, I had to order something from Walmart. And shipping on an 8-dollar mouse was 7 dollars. Which I did not want to pay. That is ridiculous. So... I got a Walmart+ free month trial. And that came with a free month of Paramount+. Which I've been wanting to check out, but haven't had the extra funds to do so. Saw Wings was on there and was like "Well, that's what I'm gonna watch all day". I really like this show. Did notice there were missing episodes and just looked it up. Looks like it's because of music licensing issues. They had that problem with Daria when they wanted to release it on DVD and they just removed a lot of the music. So if anyone wants to watch all of the show, I would go buy the DVD of the entire series. I got it and am pretty sure all the episodes are there. And seriously, I wouldn't have noticed that an episode that was missing didn't have a major plot event that carried over into the following episodes.

Played

A bit more on Morrowind. I'm waiting to play more until I get a mouse for my laptop. I don't like stealing the one from my desktop computer all the time.

Also played a bunch of mobile games on my phone.

Posted

My ramblings about some Hawkeye comics.

Anything Else?

Spent a couple days searching online for a job. No luck cause this town sucks. Don't wanna be a nurse, don't have CDLs and I'm holding Walmart and fast food as a very last fucking resort. Both almost killed me when I worked them before. I would prefer something that is an overnight thing. Mostly because I live with my disabled parents and we have one solid working vehicle. So, days are mostly spent running errands for them. I dunno. I'll figure something out.

Kiddo finished up their vocab work for the year. They also finished their science already. I would be concerned about them speeding through everything but they also have to write essays and other writing assignments. And do a sewing project. So their thought process is that the quicker they get through the easier things, the longer they can spend on the other things.

Listened to music... Lot of Dixon Dallas and The Amazing Devil. I was hoping music would help me focus on my writing... And I heard about Dixon Dallas's Good Looking song and had to check it out. I was laughing so hard. Great song. Not Safe For Work, though. Unless your co-workers are cool. And if they are, where do you work? They hiring? What sort of benefits you got?

Okay. That's it for this weekly update. Not sure what Wednesday's post will be. Depends on how quickly I can get something written up about Salem's Lot. If I finish that original story thing I might post that on here as well. Not sure. Depends on how well I like the finished product probably. We'll see.

Check y'all later.

Hawkeye: My Life as a Weapon

Hello There!

I was going to wait until I read all six volumes of this before posting anything. But... I can do them one at a time. There's enough to talk about.

I'm gonna split this up by issues in the volume. So...

I need Hawkeye sheets...

Issue 1

Clint gets out of the hospital and meets a dog. Oh and the Tracksuit Mafia. The dog is more important.

Issue 2

Clint and Kate (woo! Katie Kate!) go to a fancy Cirque Du Nuit performance. They're criminals. Not Clint and Kate. They stop the criminals. And Clint gets to drive a boat! He is great a boats. Kind of shit at recognizing languages though.

Issue 3

Clint has nine terrible ideas. But damn does he have a nice jacket.

Issue 4

Part one of The Tape. Shield sends Clint off to deal with a tape that has been released of him assassinating someone.

Issue 5

Part two of The Tape. Clint and Kate kick ass. And don't take many names. Look, they were busy.

Issue 6

The issue of Young Avengers where Kate meets Clint. In this timeline, Clint was running around with the Avengers (who were hiding out for some reason, I can't remember why right now) as Ronin. Captain America gave Clint's bow to Kate in a previous issue of Young Avengers. And then Clint took it back in this issue. And was very entertained when Kate stole it back.

Thoughts?

Oh my gods. I love these comics. Hawkeye is my favorite Marvel character. Both of them. Clint is an absolute mess in these comics.

Remember that bit from the Hawkeye show on Disney+ where Clint and Kate are in the car being chased by the Tracksuit Mafia and Clint is shooting fancy arrows out of the car? Yeah, that is from Issue 3. Plot is different, but the fight is damn similar.

Also, Clint owns an apartment building in these comics. Which plays a big part in them. Remember Grills from the show? Yeah, he lives in the building Clint owns. In the comics he's a white dude, and doesn't LARP as far as I can remember. He was only in a bit of one of these and he was... grilling...

I got the first issue of this series for free through Comixology years ago and figured I'd give it a shot. I was interested in reading more about Hawkeye, but didn't know that much about him. And by, about page two, I was in love.

If you want to read some Hawkeye comics, I highly recommend this run. And I give props to the people that made the Hawkeye show for putting in enough references to this run into the show that I was making embarrassing fan-girl noises for a good part of the show. Not sure how I feel about the Swordsman switch though... But I'm not going to get into that here. This is about the comic, not the show. Maybe if I ever get Disney+ back I'll rewatch the show and do a whole post about that.

And... That's about it. I was waiting to start volume two until I got this all written up so my brain didn't smoosh them all together. So, now I can go read that one. Yay!

This Week I...

Hello There!

Let's see what I did this week, shall we?

Wrote

Bits and pieces on various fan-fics.
I got this massive idea for a Star Wars fic, which for a while was the title I gave it on Google Docs. I finally started actually writing bits for it. It is going to take a long time for me to write though.

Read

The first volume of Hawkeye.

A lot of fan-fiction.

Oh, I swapped books again. I was reading a true crime book. Just a collection of different serial killers. I was getting badly written and poorly researched vibes from very early on. And then I got to the part about the Manson Family, saw an error in the first paragraph, and just gave up. I swapped it for Mayflower Madam, which I have read before but it was many years ago. I remember I enjoyed it before. Let's see if that opinion holds.

Watched

Gravity Falls - Had some severe weather one day which resulted in our internet not working. And there was a fear of the power going out. So I just watched Gravity Falls on DVD

Good Eats - discovered this was on Max and had to start watching it again. I think this is one of the best "cooking" shows I've ever watched. And I've watched, like, three. But seriously, Alton Brown teaches some history, a bit of math, little bit of science, kitchen safety, and how to cook. All in a show that is full of silly humor. And yeah, I probably won't use a lot of his recipes but I will be using a bunch of his random kitchen tips.

Rugrats - needed a comfort show. Sadly Rugrats didn't do it for me. I watched a few episodes and gave up.

Lot of YouTube stuff. Drawfee has quickly become a bit of a comfort channel. It's nice cause I can put the videos on as background noise, but are also super calming and fun to just sit and watch.

Played

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - been wanting to play this for some reason, and I got the Game of the Year Edition on gog.com a while back so I figured I'd play that. Never played it on PC before. And... I think I prefer it. I didn't play overly long, and I died pretty quick. I was playing on my laptop and soon learned that I should use a regular mouse and not just the laptop's mousepad. Which did cause an issue until I turned off the mousepad. But I'm enjoying it on the PC. There are a couple features I like more. And a feature or two that I'm not sure if are PC features or I just didn't know how to properly play on the Xbox. Oh, I also created my own class! I wanted to be a bard but I didn't like the set-up they gave me so I created Bard 2.0.

Anything Else?

Did a little cleaning in my bedroom. I need to tackle my movie shelves and get those organized. But to do that I have to move my massive stack of books. So that is a multiple-day chore.
One of my cats has decided anytime I am at my desk, he needs to be on the desk. Which has not been fun...

Look at that asshole...
He was sound asleep in his bed when I sat down. Not even five minutes later I had a bitey wrist rest. And he only does this with me. When my kiddo uses the desk for school he leaves them alone. He just doesn't like me doing something that doesn't involve him.

And that's it...

See y'all on Wednesday, which will either be a rambling about a book or another Animal Crossing post. Depends on how nit-picky I get about the book ramblings.

Stephy Plays Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Hello There!

Another filler post for this week. I'm almost done with a book ramblings post, but not quite. No need to rush it when I got a bunch of these waiting for attention.

And yes... This is from November. The date on the pictures is correct... Again, the Animal Crossing posts are filler posts.

Day 15

Last time on Hades...

I did some mental planning for my island. Planted some flowers.

Isabelle! Oh I missed you!

Got me a nice pennant cause my house is so great.

Fuck yeah! Able sisters are coming to Hades!

So excited!

Fuck yeah. Gonna build another bridge. And maybe some ramps or stairs. Maybe. Probably...

Gotcha. Booze and hookers.

I am less excited by this than having the Able Sisters...

You are not an imaginative man, Tom Nook.

Okie dokie.

I crafted a cute little mushroom wreath!

Oh! Look at my flowers!

Got a better picture of my purple roof.

And that's all for this one. Don't forget to check in on Saturday to see if I did anything interesting this week.

This Week I...

 Hello there!

Let's see what I did this week.

Spoiler: Nothing much... Again.

Wrote

A little bit of fan-fiction things.Got in the mood to write some things with one pairing being cute.

Read

Mostly fan-fiction. Got the last volume of the Hawkeye comic I needed so hopefully I'll at least get that started next week.

Watched

The Penguins of Madagascar movie.

Murder, She Wrote

Kids Next Door - I needed something that I didn't really have to pay attention to on HBO Max. Or Max. or whatever it's called now.

A whole bunch of nature documentaries on YouTube. A lot of them were about ocean animals so I was just sitting here shouting "I caught one of those!" like I actually went fishing and caught a fucking oarfish. I did not. Animal Crossing me did though!

Look at it! Which, that is from my old game. I don't think I've caught an oarfish in this game. Need to fix that. Love those sea monsters. Seriously, if you don't know what an oarfish is (or just how big they really are) go look them up.

Played

Mobile games. Though, now I wanna go play some Animal Crossing. Catch some fish.

My plans for the month.
Review of a book about Richard Ramirez...
A couple things on AO3.

Anything Else?

My one cat (Wicket) was angry at me all week because a filthy mongrel was on his bed.

The filthy mongrel.

My parents were out of town for most the week so I had to baby-sit my dad's dog. He's clingy. But adorable so he gets a pass. Except for when he growls at my cats over food. Then I don't talk to him for a bit.

Kiddo is really enjoying their science course this year. Like, enjoying it so much that they are super focused on it and will probably finish it all up within the month. Which, one benefit of homeschooling is scheduling. Kiddo wants to focus on one subject for awhile? Go for it. As long as we get the required number of days in, it's cool. And they do the work that needs done.

Oh, kiddo is also going to be reading Hamlet because one of their friends read it and said it would be better with lesbians (as are a lot of things) so now my kiddo has to read it to see if they agree. Speaking of Shakespeare, my kiddo really recommends the No Fear Shakespeare books. They give the original version of the play on one page, and on the opposite page is a modern English translation. I found a copy of Romeo and Juliet at a thrift shop for them and they really enjoyed it so they asked for a version of Hamlet. Which was on Amazon in paperback for less than 10 bucks. So yeah, if you wanna read some Shakespeare but are hesitant because of the Old English, check those out.

Well, that's all for now. The way it looks Wednesday's post will be an Animal Crossing post. Unless I finish a book (or read all those Hawkeye comics) by Tuesday and crank out some ramblings about that instead.

The Night Stalker: The Life and Crimes of Richard Ramirez by Philip Carlo

 Hello there!

The Night Stalker

The Life and Crimes of Richard Ramirez

By Philip Carlo

I wasn't going to do a post about this book. But… I have to complain. So, here it is. A post where I am not telling y'all how great something is.

Also, I apparently read this book before. Gave it four stars on GoodReads. Loaned it to a friend. I don't know what happened... And I apologize to my friend that I loaned this to.

The first part of the book sort of reads like a serial killer novel (which is what the writer originally wanted to write. He should have written that instead…). I wouldn't say the first part was bad. Just… not my thing. Lot of gritty descriptions. And stuff from the killer's point of view. Which, considering the crimes Richard Ramirez committed, I was not enjoying that.

Then there is a part about Richard Ramirez's family. Dude went back in the family tree and went into a lot of detail about the Ramirez family. Which I thought was a bit unnecessary. I can understand discussing his parents and siblings. And what his childhood was like, but this book detailed how abusive his grandfather was to his father. Which, okay, whatever. Maybe that was necessary information.

Then, the cops figure out Ramirez is the Night Stalker. A group of civilians catch him and he is arrested.

And then… like, 300 pages of the trial. I don't even think Helter Skelter had that many pages dedicated to the trial. And that book was written by a lawyer. Sprinkled in among all the pages about the trial were various bits about all the women that became obsessed with Ramirez. Including his future wife and one of the jurors. And it was at this point I went from "eh, mediocre true crime book" to "what the fuck is this shit?" And while the writer did make a comment in the updated new chapter that these women should seek a therapist, he attended Ramirez's wedding! To one of the women who was obsessed with him! In the book it refers to him as "an author" during the chapter about the wedding, but it was him. His author's photo is of him and Ramirez at the wedding. Which, ya know, I probably should have checked that out before I read the book. Might have clued me into the fact that I was not going to enjoy the book.

This book is not a good true crime book. It focused too much on the women who were obsessed with Ramirez. Also, there were "24 pages of shocking photos!" What was shocking was the fact that there were no pictures of the victims. I don't mean I feel there should have been crime scene photos of the victims. But every other true crime book I have read had pictures of the victims. Of the lawyers from the trial. Cops that worked the case. Not this book. There is one photo of the two main detectives that worked the case. But it was mostly pictures of Ramirez, a couple of his family, and the women. Which was weird.

The True Crime genre is a slippery slope. And this book fell off the slope. The book made me angry. Angry in a different way than true crime books usually make me. Usually, when I read a true crime book I'm angry at the killer for doing such things. Or the incompetence of the police. But I am interested in how the crimes are solved. How the cops connect the crimes to each other. How the lawyers frame things to get the jury to agree. And while this book did tell a bit about how the cops connected the crimes, it didn't really do enough.

I do not recommend this book. At all. To anyone. But if you must, only read the first half. Stop reading after Ramirez is arrested. Just know that he was convicted. And he died on death row. He got the death penalty but it was overturned in California before they could death penalty his ass. And I am very angry that he lived a moderately comfortable life and was allowed to get married.

Oh, and the book was poorly written. It had a gritty serial killer novel feel for part of the book, which is fine, I guess but… fucking weird in my opinion. Descriptions of people were reused unnecessarily. There was one paragraph that used the names Mike and Michael and it took me a few minutes to realize it was the same person. The writer kept talking about how big Ramirez's hands were which started getting creepy. And some of the other descriptions were just weird.

I would like to read another book about Ramirez. One that didn't read like a gritty real-person fan-fiction thriller. So I might look into that at some point. I did watch the Netflix thing (Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer) and it was... I don't want to say it was good because of the subject matter, but it was informative and a lot better than this book. So if you wanna know about what horrible shit he did, watch that. It covers more crimes he "supposedly" committed but wasn't charged for.

Oh, also, I watched some random YouTube video about serial killer wives and it said that Ramirez's wife separated from him when DNA evidence came back linking him to the rape and murder of a young girl. So, I looked it up, and it seems that might be true. Does not make her any less of an idiot in my mind. Yeah, we all do stupid stuff in our younger days, but most of us aren't marrying a murderer that is on death row...

That's all for this one.

This Month I Plan On...

 Hello There!

So I was reading a blog post about fun and "interesting" blog post ideas. Because that is apparently what bloggers do? I don't know. But one of the things listed was posts about books you plan to read. This was about book blogging by the way. I decided that could be interesting (to me). But I'm going to expand on it, cause this isn't a book blog. It's a nerd blog. So, on the first of every month I'm going to do a post of things I want to do that month. I'm going to format them kind of like my weekly posts of what I did. So I'll go into what books I'm planning on reading. What movies/TV shows I plan on watch. What video games I plan to play. And what I want to try to write.

Maybe this will guilt me into actually doing things instead of laying on my bed reading the same fan-fictions over and over.

So, let's get started!

This month I plan on...

Reading

I'm a little over halfway through Salem's Lot, hopefully I will get it all finished. And I got Goosebumps: Say Cheese and Die ready for my next spooky book to read. Need something less spooky this time.😂
The World's Most Infamous Killers is... okay. I'm only a few "chapters" in but it's basically just short blurbs about serial killers throughout history. Not sure how accurate it is since it said both Vlad Tepes and Elizabeth Bathory drank blood...
I'm about a 1/4 of a way through Good Omens. So I might get it done by the end of the month. Who knows.
I am reading the Young Jedi Knigts books super slow. If I wasn't so stubborn I would probably have given up on them. Not that I'm disliking them. Just not in the mood, maybe? I love those books.
Saw the trailer for the Red, White & Royal Blue movie and decided I needed to read the book again.
And the Daily Dose of Knowledge History book is an almost light read. I could probably get it finished by the end of the month if I can focus. I do not have faith that I can focus.
I'm also reading The Bookshop Murder on Kindle. I'm 39% through it.

I really want to get through all of these books by the end of the month. I probably won't. My ability to focus on reading anything other than fan-fiction lately has been seriously lacking lately. Sometimes even fan-fiction doesn't hold my attention. But I'm going to really try.

I'm also planning on reading some Hawkeye comics. Just waiting to get volume 5 in the mail.

Watching

Good Omens - Need to watch the second season before it all gets spoiled for me.
Resident Evil - I started watching all the movies, animated movies and shows a while back. I think I'm up to Infinite Darkness, so I wanna finish watching all of those
I also want to check out Nimona on Netflix. I've heard good things about it.

Playing

No real plans to play anything. Though I need to play something besides mobile games. I am working on looking up all the release dates for all my console games. I sort of want to try playing all of them in order of release. Just think it would be fun.

Writing

I plan on writing something...
I dug out all my handwritten things recently and realized that there are so many that need thrown away. Ones that I have typed up or even some that I have posted on AO3, so really no reason to keep the stacks of handwritten versions. They don't even count as backup versions since I changed so much since I wrote them up on paper. They're just taking up space.

Anything Else?

Kiddo started up school yesterday. Last year of homeschooling. I think I'm going to miss it. So that will take some of my focus from things. But it will also give me time to do things while they are doing schoolwork. I also assigned them three history essays this year, so I was thinking about doing the same in solidarity.

And that's about it.
Hope y'all have a good month.
