6 Games I Would Play the Fuck Out Of

I am not aware if any of these games do exist, but I do not have an encyclopedic knowledge of every game ever made, so if anyone knows of any games that fit these descriptions, let me know. Also, with all of these, I am not talking about online shit. I don't play games online. I sit in my dark room alone to play video games.

MonsterVerse Fighting Game

I think Ryan first brought this idea to my brain. But fuck, it would be awesome. Monsterverse, for those unaware, Monsterverse is what WB/Legendary calls its lineup with Godzilla, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Kong: Skull Island, and Godzilla vs. Kong (just stole that explanation from Ryan cause he’s smarter than me). So, imagine those guys/ladies in a fighting game. Looks awesome, right? Yeah. I want that shit.

Paranormal Investigator Game

There are a few of these games, but none have covered exactly what I want. Phasmophobia comes the closest. But, I don’t want online multiplayer. I want a game where you are a paranormal investigator. You start out with nothing. Just a flashlight and your wits. You have to go to buildings to learn about ghosts that are haunting the place. The more you find out, the easier it is for someone (maybe you) to get rid of the ghost. I also want multiple locations. The haunted building, of course, but also an office or something where you can also do research to figure out the entity in the building. And each haunting you take care of, you get paid and can start buying equipment. You can also hire a team, but while hiring a team will help out because you can delegate tasks, that also means you have to share the pay with them. Also, the ghosts can’t kill you. But if you half-ass the job, people will be less likely to hire you for more jobs. You do a good job and you get better jobs.

Marvel fighting game

Not Marvel vs. Capcom. While I do enjoy those games, I want just Marvel characters. Like Injustice for the DC characters. The story mode could easily be Civil War or something new. I would prefer something new but whatever works.

A monster-hunting game

Wait.

Hold on.

I got more to say.

A monster-hunting game sort of like those big game hunter games from Cabelas and shit but monsters. Online play not required to get the best monsters or any of that nonsense. And you have options to play in a stereotypical fantasy setting, and a modern-day setting. As you hunt, you can sell things you harvest from the monsters for money that you can use to buy better weapons and all that. The Witcher mobile game is close to what I want, but… I want it on a console. And no microtransactions or anything.

An open-world RPG with no main plot.

Not Minecraft.

Do not come at me shouting about Minecraft.

Let me explain more.

I want a mash-up of Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Animal Crossing and The Sims.

Basically, I want a game where you’re just some rando that decides to be an adventurer or whatever in some medieval fantasy-type world. So, off you go. And you get sent on millions of side quests as you go. And there is no main plot running in the background as you play. No big reveal that you’re actually royalty or anything like that. You’re just some random person who wants adventure. And the side quests range from fetch quests to escort missions to assassinations. And a lot of them can be completed in different ways. Like, let’s say you get sent to kill a monster. And you find out the “monster” is actually a peaceful creature. You could still kill it and earn some gold. Or you could help it relocate and earn some more work from other sentient creatures that people think are monsters. (I think that might be a questline in a Witcher game. Not sure.)

And there can be romances. Or you could sleep with random people you meet at the tavern. Hit up some brothels. Whatever you want.

Pretty much, I want a game that I can pick up whenever I want to play a video game, but can’t focus on a big story. And Animal Crossing only gives me so much.

A Naruto game that focuses more on the plot than the fighting.

How I described this idea to my friend was “Something like Dragon Age: Origins, but in the Naruto universe. And instead of fighting with swords and magic, you’re a ninja. And during fighting bits, it goes to a fighting game type of gameplay”.

I would like something like that, where you pick which Hidden Village you come from, and the game starts when you graduate from the Academy. You get a genin team, who are your companions in the game. And during the fighting parts, you can call on them for help. Like a Super Special Meter fills up, and when you get it completely full, your Jonin Sensei comes in with some awesome ninja move. There are acts like in Dragon Age 2, so at the end of each act there is a time skip. And to end each act, you have to go to the next rank. The entire first act could just be preparing for and going to the Chunin exams. Then when you pass, Act 2 begins. And around the middle of the game, there is a choice to make where you can either continue on the path to defeat the Big Bad. Or you can join the Big Bad. Either way, at the end, you defeat the Big Bad. But, if you joined, you become the new Big Bad. Or something.

And that's all for this week. See y'all next Wednesday 👋🏻

30 Day Movie Challenge (In One Day)

I found this on Pinterest and love these silly little survey things. I couldn't find a link to where it originally came from. This says 30 Day Challenge, but nope. Gonna do it in one post. Cause I'm forgetful. Also, thanks to Ryan for putting up with me asking what genre movies were. Cause I apparently suck at recognizing genres... 🤷🏻‍♀️

1. The last movie you watched

Josie and the Pussycats. That movie is just so fun. And I still dig the music.

2. A favorite fantasy movie

Lord of the Rings. All of them. Extended editions. I mean, how could I not choose them?

3. A favorite action/adventure movie

Shit. I suck at genres. Is Jurassic Park an action/adventure movie? I'm just gonna say Jurassic Park.

4. A favorite horror/suspense movie

The Conjuring. Oh wait! The Conjuring 2. The Crooked Man makes me giggle.

5. A favorite drama movie

Shit. This one stumped me. I'm not a big fan of dramas. I watch movies to either be happy or get the shit scared out of me, so a drama doesn't quite fill that spot. But... Hmm... American History X was quite good.

6. A favorite comedy movie

Shaun of the Dead. I still think this movie is hilarious.

7. A movie that makes you happy

Deadpool. With the dead and the pool and the Vanessa and the just everything really.

8. A movie that makes you sad

The Land Before Time. Gods, I still fucking cry when Little Foot's mother dies.

9. A movie you practically know the whole script of

Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I once (or twice...) drunkenly re-enacted that movie. Got pretty close to the actual script.

10. Your favorite director

Kevin Smith. I've loved his movies since I watched Clerks in high school. Yes, there are some problematic elements in them. I won't deny that. But I still love his movies and he seems like an awesome person that I would love to just sit down and chat with.

11. Your favorite movie from your childhood

Probably either The Little Mermaid or The Land Before Time. I watched the shit out of both of those movies.

12. Your favorite animated movie

I'm gonna go with Lilo and Stitch.

13. A favorite love story

Gomez and Morticia Addams.

14. A favorite quote from any movie

"I've got a bad feeling about this" from, like, all the Star Wars...

15. Least favorite book adaptation

The Percy Jackson movies. I will admit that if I can turn my brain off and pretend they are not adaptations of books, I enjoy them. They are good movies. But as adaptations they kind of suck.

16. The last movie you saw in theaters

Shit. I honestly cannot remember. It was either Doctor Strange or Ant-Man. I think...

17. The best movie you saw in the past year

Jurassic World Dominion

Fuck anyone who said this movie was bad. It was fantastic.

18. A movie that disappointed you most

The Exorcist. It was supposed to be the scariest movie ever and it bored me. It was boring. So fucking boring. *ducks brick that Ryan is throwing at me right now*

19. A favorite actor

David Tennant

20. A favorite actress

Betty White.

21. The most overrated movie

The Exorcist. What? That movie was sooooo boring.

22. The most underrated movie

I have no idea what counts as an underrated movie, but I'm gonna say Josie and the Pussycats because it was considered a flop, but I think was really good. It was just a fun little comedy with good music and fantastic actors. And, even though it was released in 2001, most of the humor held up pretty well. At least I still found it funny.

23. A favorite character from any movie

Eric Draven. I have been trying to fit The Crow in here somewhere.

24. A favorite villain

The snakes on Snakes on a Plane.

25. A favorite hero

Hawkeye. Oh, come on. Anyone who knows me expects this answer.

26. A movie that is a guilty pleasure

10 Things I Hate About You. Honestly, really any teen movie from the 90s and early 00s. Loved those damn things...

27. A favorite classic movie

Back to the Future. According to the standards that Ryan and I decided on, it counts as a classic. And it's a damn good movie.

28. A favorite friendship in a movie

The only one I can think of at the moment is Josie, Valerie, and Melody from Josie and the Pussycats 🤷🏻‍♀️

29. A favorite remake

I don't have one at the moment.

30. A least favorite movie

I really don't want to bitch about The Exorcist again... So... Fuck. Oh! A Christmas Story. Fuck that movie. And fuck that channel that plays it non-stop on Christmas.

That's all for this week! See y'all next Wednesday 👋🏻

Stephy Plays Animal Crossing: New Horizons

 Day One.
Sort of.
I've been playing this game since... Christmas of... 2020? Pretty sure that is when I got my Switch. Which I really only got to play Animal Crossing on. But lately, I've wanted to completely re-do my island. So I made a list (gods do I love a good list) of all the things I wanted to do and it was a lot. So, I decided to just restart my island. A decision I went back and forth on for a month or longer, really. And since it is super easy to snap pictures on the Switch, I decided to share my progress with you guys. So here we go!
Oh yeah, quick note. Pictures were taken with my Switch, then sent to my phone, then I transferred them to my computer.

It wasn't that wise of a decision, Timmy.

New island layout. I named the island Hades. Which... part of me regrets. I could have come up with a better name. I came up with three while typing this. Oh well. Stuck with it now.

There I am!
In front of my tent. Which... I match the tent...
I miss all my awesome clothes. But I'll get them back.

Spoiler: They were real cherries. Also, I have cherries on my island!

We had a bonfire to celebrate the new island. I have two villagers so far. Cherry (who I already love) and... that cat... shit... Hold on... Rudy! His name is Rudy. Cherry is a sisterly dog who has a really cool design that I like. And Rudy is a jock cat. Which, I'm not a huge fan of the jock characters, but oh well. My goal last time was to try and get an entire island of hamsters or lazy characters. Did not achieve goal. Let's see what I get this time.

My first bug!

My first fish! Thank the gods it wasn't a sea bass... Fucking sea bass...

Aw! Little angel snapping turtle!

Oh, I forgot, Rudy gave me that hat. He can stay since he gave me a purple hat.

No museum yet, so I gotta save my findings until I build one.

I love these fish. They are super pretty. I'll probably keep one after I donate this one to the museum.

Okay. I don't think I'm gonna do any more fish or bug pictures except for the cool ones now. Not sure. I do like bragging about my superb fishing and bug-catching skills.

Hurry up, Blathers! I have so many critters for you!

And that was my first 45 minutes or so with my new island on Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Quick note before I end this. There are obviously dates on some of the photos. They show up in-game and are real-time for anyone that doesn't play this. So whatever that says is what day and time I was playing. I don't time travel (not that I am shaming anyone that does, it's just not something I do) so the time and date is exact. Dates will super not go with whatever day I publish these blog posts. For one, I post weekly, and I will not force myself to only play once a week. Another reason is that I will be posting other things as well, so sometimes something else will come before Animal Crossing. I could remove the time and date, but I don't feel like it. Y'all will have to deal.

See y'all next Wednesday! 👋🏻

6 Fictional Places I Want to Explore In Real Life

(Even Though I Would Probably Die Within Minutes)

For some reason, my brain has a weird curiosity about fictional places. I want to know how big the streets are. How are the buildings made? Are the streets paved? I need to know! I would absolutely adore a thing like Google Earth Street View but for fictional places. Like, seriously. Someone make that. But until then, here are six fictional places that I would love to explore in real life. Though... because most of these are hellish places with wildlife and supervillains, I would probably die within minutes. But, those minutes would be fun!

Gotham

Batman comics, movies, and video games

I never really wanted to explore Gotham much until I played Arkham Knight. I spent waaaaay too much time just wandering around the city and checking out shit. Now I really wanna explore the whole city.

Harvel

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Harvel is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Some animal would probably kill me five minutes after I start exploring, but damn… The place is beautiful.

Hinterlands

Dragon Age

Oh gods I loved the Hinterlands. I know there are a few people out there that complain about how it takes forever to get through, but I was sad to leave. I was super into finding all the landmarks and learning the lore.

The Hidden Leaf Village

Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden, Boruto

Okay, this one is just for fan-fiction writing purposes. Seriously. I need to know the layout of that village. Maps just aren’t good enough!

The Finch House

What Remains of Edith Finch

So, that house is a little… dangerous looking. But fuck… I could spend days just looking at all the books without even taking them off the shelves. Find all the secrets. Just exploring the house over and over.

Springfield

The Simpsons

I am just insanely curious about the ins and outs of Springfield. Where exactly is the Tire Fire? Is it close to the school? Because… breathing in the fumes of a tire fire would explain some things about that school… Or the whole town really.

That's all for this time. I'll probably come up with more of these. But for now, that's it. See y'all next Wednesday 👋🏻

Witch and Wombat by Carolyn Cushman

Yes, my copy of this book is looking rough. Because I read it constantly.

Trigger Warning:
Brief mentions of sexual slavery
Violence

Over centuries, Hali has punished proud princesses, turned tough teens into toads, helped noble orphans on quest; the witch and her familiar, the wombat Bernie, have faced everything...except this.

Faced with a psychic energy shortage, a magic realm of sorcerers, dragons, and fairies must endure an invasion of tourists--from the mortal plane!

Now Hali and Bernie must guide two smug college boys, a plucky high school girl, and a totally obnoxious media critic through the perils of the enchanted forest.

But these mortals think they're in a computer simulated theme park, free to gripe at the ogres, harass the high elves, and taunt the trolls. They don't understand that the magic, monsters, and dangers are real.

And that in this vacation paradise, wannabe heroes can die...

There is the summary from the back of the book. Enjoy.

Okay, so. I love this book. Fucking love it. It was published in 1994 and I picked up a used copy at a flea market when I was a kid and have read it probably every year since. It is just a fun read. There is a small romantic subplot, but nothing major.

Hali is a witch who I adore and Bernie is her familiar who starts out as a crow but gets transformed into a wombat because people like wombats. They have to show four Outworlers around the fantasy land they live in. Those Outworlders are Oliver, a competent gamer and pretty realistic in his abilities, Leo, one of those gamers that blames his incompetence on the game, Tracey, a teenage girl with a good heart and a good head on her shoulders, and Jamison, an overly harsh critic (think those YouTubers that just bitch about everything).

The characters are all fleshed out nicely with their own personalities that make you either like them or not. And there are plenty of characters to meet. I loved Hali and Bernie. And I loved Tracey because she was a girl gamer. Remember, this was the 90s. I'm reading this shit when I'm in middle school for the first time. And there is a girl, who likes video games. That was revolutionary for me. Even though Tracey is a total horse girl which ugh. But she is a good character and I did like her a lot.

I loved the world-building. The writer brought in a lot of fairy tale and fantasy elements that just worked. I cannot remember a lot of the character descriptions, though that is more of a me thing. I tend to remember one or two details of characters unless they are repeated and then fill in the blanks my memory gives me. That is a me thing, there might have been great character descriptions.

Now, in the beginning, there is no clear plot. The gamers have no goal to achieve, which makes them all cranky. But Hali decides since she is getting a new house out of the deal, she might as well check out some real estate listings as they travel. Which is so amusing to me. Honestly, I would have read an entire book of her checking out houses and the gamers having mini adventures at each stop. Two houses they check out are the witch's house from Hansel and Gretel and Baba Yaga's house. Which, awesome. But a goal to achieve does make itself known, and they defeat the evil and save the day.

Great book. I highly recommend reading it. Though... It's only available used or on Kindle. Which I am tempted to buy a copy for my Kindle since my physical copy is starting to fall apart.

That's all this week. See y'all next Wednesday 👋🏻
